It’s Coming Together with bkk UNZINE’s Mixers

One of bkk UNZINE’s most important goals is that of building community within the bustling but mostly disconnected population of artists in Bangkok. 

Our monthly “Mixer” event is provides an excellent opportunity for not just creatives but anybody with an interest in art to come together to expand their networks and hopfully build long lasting relationships in order to share ideas, offer support, expand horizons and in turn strengthen our community.

At the tail end of 2024 on December 21st, UNZINE 95 closed out the year with a special pre-Christmas Mixer where artists introduced themselves and looked ahead to the possibilities of the next year before most left town for the holidays. We were overwhelmed by all the good energy that was packed into our little studio and it was great to have so much talent in one space, with many guests experiencing UNZINE 95 for the first time and remarking how much the space has involved into a cool, inviting getaway. Everyone shared their stories and what while enjoying sandwiches and our signature UNZINE 95 brownies.

For the following Mixer, held on January 18th and titled “Show and Tell,” we asked our guests to present one project they’re working on that excites them the most, leading nicely into the upcoming February group exhibion, themed “Passion.” From seasoned veterans to some just beginning their adventure at university, the group saw eye-to-eye the value of forming these bonds and building a close-knit art community.

During months with a group exhibition, that exhibition’s opening reception will also serve as the Mixer event, so February 2025’s Mixer was held as an opening reception on Friday, February 7th at Cataleya Estate, the venue of the Passion group exhibition. For months without a group exhibition, the Mixer will be hosted at UNZINE 95.
