The Paris Biennale Comes to 95
UNZINE 95 hosts a discussion of Thailand’s art scene as part of the Paris Biennale in Bangkok
As part of our mission to be a haven for lovers of art to come together as a supportive and collaborative community, we are proud to announce UNZINE 95’s collaboration with the Paris Biennale for its first ever Bangkok initiative.
Founded in 1959, the Paris Biennale was conceived as a frame to experiment with new modalities of future art. Over the decades, the Biennale has unveiled some of the greatest artists of the 20th century and was also a pioneer in presenting photography and video art, once regarded to be merely techniques, as art forms.
The Biennale envisions art as a broader concept than merely producing art objects, seeking to redefine it according to new criteria, and is not confined to Paris. It relocates around the world, adopting a model that identifies and activates potentials within their local contexts. Locally, the Paris Biennale will take place in Bangkok from February 21st to 28th.
On Wednesday, February 26th, a discussion aimed at understanding the Thai art scene will be hosted at UNZINE 95. SWOT analysis (identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats pertinent to the art scene in Thailand) will be made with different points of views represented: those of stakeholders within the art scene such as creators, educators and professionals, as well as outsiders with unique vantage points of observation. Following the moderated discussion, audience members are invited to participate with questions or comments.
Join us at UNZINE 95, located at 180 Soi Sukhumvit 95 (near the Bang Chak BTS station), on Wednesday February 26th at 6:00 PM for this insightful look at the flourishing art scene in Thailand as it is now and where it could be headed…
